They have arrived. The new iPods have been launched, and I’m not sure I’m that crazy about the new Nano. But the Shuffle looks amazing.
The new Nano looks very similar to the old Mini, and it’s also available in new colours. Storage have been upped to 8Gig, and this is also the only one available in all colours. Personally I prefer the first Nano’s, but maybe that’s because I know and love (and own 2 of) them.
The Shuffle, however, is very cool. It looks like the old iPod remote - about the size of a box of matches. Also in silver, it looks like it has a built in belt clip. This really looks cool!

Then there’s the new 80Gig iPod with video. Wow, that’s as big as the hdd I have on Victoria (my MacBook) which I upgraded when I bought it a month ago!

The other big news is iTunes 7, and it now fetches artwork for you automatically - provided you have an iTunes Music Store account. This means it still won’t be available to anyone in most developing nations! But the new “artwork browser” feature is unbelievably cool (yes, obviously I’ve already downloaded and palyed with all of it). The interface rocks! As is to be expected from Apple. It’s quite obvious they’re gearing it more towards multimedia than purely tunes. Perhaps a rename is in order, like iMedia or iDentityCrises?

As of today the Music Store has 75 full lenght movies for sale! Obviously all titles from studios owned by Disney, but these include some incredibly cool films. Pity about the stupidly restrictive DRM which means I still can’t burn a DVD, but perhaps the upcoming iTV will sort that out. Perhaps i won’t buy my Mac Mini for the living room just yet…

Very disappointing, they could have done a lot better, could this be the end of the iPod craze? Especially with advancements iby competitors and rivals such as the Microsoft Zune, as well as the Toshiba Gigabeat. Sorry Tom but you can keep your iPod.

A rather lackluster anouncement from Apple… I would have expected more; actually the WHOLE industry expected more.

WOW.. more colours… Where’s the FM Radio, the Wireless, the Bigger screen for Nano?
Sorry my friend, but Apple failed to impress.
