Ever wondered who that girl is in the Microsoft holograms? Well, I never knew until I moved here. “Here” being East Horsley, Surrey in the United Kingdom.

On my afternoon walks I pass through the grounds of Horsley Towers quite often, which lies less than a mile south of us. This is where the Microsoft hologram lady lived. Who was she?

Ada Lovelace, the daughter of Lord Byron is generally credited with writing the world’s first ever computer program - in 1842!

Where does the legendary Sopwith Camel fit in? Sir Thomas Sopwith, the famed aviation pioneer who’s company built the WWI fighter also lived in Horsley Towers. Incidently, he later started another aviation company with his chief engineer, Harry Hawker.

Nope, not really, looking at all my cd’s and licences, I have absolutley NO idea what hologram you are talking about.

Any chance you have a copy to show me?

I must agree with Michael here.

What girl, I have no idea what you are talking about, never seen her, but would love to. Give us an example please.

Guys, Ada Lovelace lived in the 19th century. Only look at Microsoft products after about 1890. Jeez, get with the (MS) program.

  4. Michael Says:

So in other words.. you havn’t seen her either?

    Consiracy I tell you, conspiracy!

  5. Tom van Aardt Says:

Look, be realistic. A conspiracy to hide the imminent invasion of alien forces, that I can believe. But a conspiracy about putting some daft old dame on a pretty colorful picture? who’d fall for that?

  6. Michael Says:

Turns out she wasn’t THAT daft.

But I am breaking out my old Windows 95, NT and 98 Licence books tonight, Having checked all the XP, 2003 and office licences at work.

I will find the daft old woman!!!

    Tha aliens can wait.

  7. Tom van Aardt Says:
