Perhaps Apple isn’t that great after all

Perhaps I went off against Windows too early. Perhaps I should have waited a while before I became such a public Apple fanboy.

I’ve had Victoria - my dual core Apple MacBook - for just over two months now, and in that time I’ve become an avid Apple supporter. In actual fact I’ve been an Apple supporter for months, especially after I bought my first iPod.

Yesterday I made the mistake of allowing Mary - a brand new iMac - into our house. She’s been here and set up for less than 24 hours, and I’m beginnning to doubt my outspoken criticism of Windows. Perhaps there is one area where Windows outperforms Apple hands down with no questions asked undoubtedly and undeniably.

No one ever willingly wanted to use a windoze machine in our home. For the first we now fight about who gets to use the computer. That never happened with the PC, in fact quite the opposite. :-)
Kobie loves it, because it works, it’s easy and it already has everything she needs. No worries, no hassles, and it’s so beautiful she actually wants it in the living room.

Lia demands to play games on it, because she can do so without needing a masters degree in computer science. She has her own user account, complete with children’s interface, managed by an admin account. Oh, and the games work.

I like the screamingly fast new Core 2 Duo Intel chip. We can now ‘fast switch’ between three users and an admin account, and they all have open games, browsers, iPhoto, iTunes and more at the same time. Without a decrease in performance.

Ah, and of course we all love the beautiful flat panel wide screen with the vast amount of desktop real estate.

Oh how we miss the quiet days when the windoze machine was switched only when absolutely necessary.

And you never considered that if you got the new dual core PC (so a NEW PC rather than a 4 year old dinosaur) that your could do the things you do with the MAC.

Fast user switching?? You know why you never liked Windows… because you never used it’s build in features it seems
I switch between users quickly and easily - without closing the previous users applications.

I never experience LAG, and my Windows media player runs at least HALF the memory usage of your iPod locked memory hogging iTunes.

All applications run on my machine smoothly and easily… Why don’t they on your PC?

As to everything coming with the MAC - So Photoshop, Firefox, MySql, and Macromedia Studio come installed by standard???
I think not - so I cannot do business on the Mac out of the box.

Yes Tom, you have sold Windows and the PC in general short ( I mean your new Macs ARE PC’s) - and as for the actual look of the machine - I still stand by my claim that PC’s are more customisable - I can make my PC look (exactly) like my amplifier, it fits in any part of my home or life seamlessly - and beautifully. Or if that is too much effort I can buy the latest Acer latop with the sleek carbon fiber look, or the new Mecers laptops that look EXACLTY like the macbooks. - As to everyone using you MAC, maybe if you brought you PC into the house in your previous home, people would have used it.

So yes Tom, have fun with your sexist named maxs(sic) - You were made for each other :P

    Mike,

    I’m a Mac, you’re a PC.

    That’s all.

You actually believe those silly adverts??

Ok… here is one I will agree with, Windows machines do have more viruses.

Now come on and give me a better argument than that… you are giving in WAY too easily.
