Good girls go to Leatherhead, bad girls go to sleep

8:57 pm Update

Although we didn’t plan a big outing for our anniversary, just enjoying a weekend at home with the whole family is a big enough indulgence. And there are always those minor little things that can be such a big or delicious treat. Kobra and I had Kirthon on back-to-back nights, for example :-D
Not everyone played along, though.

Elfie decided to start practising for her terrible two’s, and had absolutely no intention whatsoever of observing our special day.

On Saturday morning she started a temper tantrum when walking outside with Kobra, and worked herself into such a froth she completely missed her hairdresser’s appointment. She started screaming uncontrollably like pig with it’s tail gripped in a vice. Finally I managed to calm her down, and she was so spent she passed out and I had to wake her after nearly three hours.

At least Liela was extremely well behaved, and still got to visit Carroll’s. She was so impressed with her haircut, I had to photograph it. We suspect she hasn’t realised how much they’ve taken off.

On Saturday afternoon Liela’s class had a birthday party and James dropped Sam off at about one o’clock. We took them to the Leatherhead leisure centre, and then Kobra, Elfie and I went shopping.

As another example of those minor things meaning so much, Kobra and I finally got our own wellies. It might seem irrelevant, but having wellies signify a major step in settling in England. A right of muddy passage, one could say.

We ‘managed’ the girl’s sleeping routines during the day, and both of them were out cold quite early. This meant a lovely evening of curried couch potato for the rest of us. Perhaps not the loud and raucous anniversaries one would enjoy before parenthood, but then some things are much more important than partying.

Like love and family.
